Yuletide Letter 2025
Oct. 23rd, 2025 04:43 pmDear Yuletide Writer,
Wishing you a very happy Yuletide! I’m super excited to see what you are inspired to create, dear writer, and I will be honoured, excited and thrilled to receive and read anything for any of the following fandoms. I hope you have a wonderful Yuletide experience and season!
Over on AO3 I’m: DestielsDestiny and on Tumblr I’m: grippedbydestielfever.
Regarding treats, I would be delighted and thrilled to receive treats if any of these fandoms, prompts, etc. speak to you, lovely creators!
List of DNWs:
My biggest one is a focus on sexual content, such as porn, PWP kind of thing. Romantic relationships/content are fine, and sex scenes/sexual content are also fine, as long as they are not the main focus of the story.
No unhappy endings, please.
No non-con and no incest or underage (sexual content/contact of any kind, with anyone, where one or more of the characters is seventeen or younger) content, please.
No descriptions of torture.
No descriptions of child death.
No major character death.
No infidelity between any main pairings.
What I love, in no particular order:
Pretty much my favourite trope ever is found family. I love stories that explore intense emotional intimacy, particularly within platonic/friendship/familial relationships. Families of choice, exploring how those dynamics develop, the support and the love, as well as the angst and the feels.
I’m also a huge hurt/comfort fan. This can be physical, psychological, emotional, anything really. Stories where a character struggles with self-esteem/self-worth issues, particularly about their place in the family/relationship make my heart break into bits, and then when the other characters find out and comfort ensues, my heart aches with joy.
Comfort fics are always all the sweeter when hurt/angst has come before, whether shown or just mentioned.
I’m a complete sucker for physical hurt/comfort, your classic character A is injured, and character B find them/helps them/saves them. Particularly if there is a medical aspect involved, such as character B being a doctor (see fandoms below 😊).
In terms of physical hurt:
A character being impaled by something is a weird favourite of mine.
A character having a chronic illness, such as asthma.
I have a weakness for stories where a character hides an injury.
Characters having nightmares, hiding nightmares, being comforted after nightmares.
Soft fics, particularly with cuddles—platonic cuddles, romantic cuddles, just all the cuddles, cuddle piles, all the hugs!
Bed-sharing, clothes sharing, intense hugs.
Physical affection, particularly platonic—shoulder pats, hugs, forehead kissing, touching foreheads together, etc.
More intense/darker themes are also welcome, whether pain or trauma or grief or illness. With h/c, I love fics about injuries/injury recovery, the more medical details the better.
I love stories with intense, over the top drama, whether conversations and emotions or action, but I equally adore quiet, contemplative fics.
Enclosed locations—trapped in a location, have to share a room, trapped in an elevator, all live in one house together, anything of that sort.
Characters being epic, particularly epically competent. Competence kink for the win!
Reunions, in any shape or form. Reunited after a long separation, soulmate fics where they find each other after years of searching, long-lost/unknown family members, any scenario really.
Ghosts—characters that can see ghosts, characters as ghosts, hauntings, ghosts and mysteries.
Historical detail, historical documents, descriptions of paper.
Mysteries, investigations.
Daemon AUs, anything where the characters have daemons.
I also like vivid descriptions of scenery/landscape/wildlife.
Other things I love reading about, in no particular order:
Fluff, fantasy AUs, steampunk AUs, period AUs, non-sexual kink, non-sexual d/s and discipline, soulmate AUs, fics with pets, kidfic, neurodiversity and neurodiverse characters and themes, LGBTQIA+ characters and themes, cuddling, platonic bedsharing, first meeting AUs, canon divergence AUs, polyamory, characters on the ace spectrum.
All the details/ideas/prompts I suggest for each fandom are entirely optional, I will love and adore whatever story you create, dear yuletide writer, please follow your passion and bliss and have a wonderful yuletide experience!
But I offer the above and the following as suggestions and ideas, in case they speak to you!
Fandoms:
Murder Rooms: The Dark Beginnings of Sherlock Holmes
Characters: Joseph Bell, Arthur Conan Doyle
This series and these characters are continual sources of joy for me, and I would read and adore anything and everything with them and their found family relationship in it. They are each other’s missing puzzle piece, each other’s light in the darkness of grief and loss, for all that they often cannot admit it, even to themselves.
In terms of specific ideas/suggestions:
One of my favourite moments of the series is when Bell takes Turnevine to task for how he treated Doyle, with Doyle watching with almost expectant delight the entire time. I would love to see some of the moments that led to Doyle developing that faith in Bell’s earnest regard and protective concern for him. Basically, any excuse for protective Bell 😊
Or their version of a SH case fic—I was rewatching the Granada version of the Second Stain recently, and the mental image of Bell poking around floorboards looking for missing documents while Warner looks on in bemused bewilderment and Doyle looks on in amused pride makes me smile :)
Another favourite moment is the scene in White Knight’s Stratagem where Doyle reveals his ruse to Bell—watching Bell go from heartbroken and despairing to focused and hopeful is a thing of beauty. And the pride in his eyes when he looks at Doyle there…. A story that explores that dynamic, what Doyle has learned from Bell and how he is protective of the doctor in turn, would be super interesting, particularly from Bell’s perspective.
A paranormal and/or gothic setting, and how that impacts Doyle and Bell’s characters. How would they interact with ghosts? Caught in a rainstorm in a remote location, and strange lights appear on the horizon?
Or a powered AU—what if Bell was telepathic, for example? Or Doyle could see glimpses of the future? I’ve written stories for them where everyone has wings, but I’m always eager to see more interpretations of that trope. Or, in the heartbreaking category, when one of them (Bell or Doyle) looks at people, they see their death date hanging above them. Or, on a brighter note, Doyle is transformed/transforms into an animal (puppy, bird, snake?) and goes to the one place he knows he will be safe. How long does it take Bell to figure it out, and is Doyle’s animal form small enough to ride around in the doctor’s pockets?
Bookish (TV)
Characters: Gabriel Book, Edmund Kind
This show broke my heart, and made me laugh, and cry. I was incredibly excited for the character of Mr. Kind from the moment I saw the poster for the third episode, wondering what his relationship with Book would be, and the episode certainly delivered :)
I’m a sucker for second chance romance, and for relationships with layers of history, and the episode gives us both so much and so little. How did Book and Kind meet? Did Edmund know Felix as well? What would the development of a relationship between Book and Mr. Kind look like? I’d love a scenario that gets Edmund out of the Walsingham (is it possible to be in a toxic relationship with a hotel??), perhaps as far as Archangel Lane? I wonder how Mr. Kind feels about running an antiques shop. There is that vacancy that’s just opened up...
The thing that lives rent free in my head about these two? That in the entire series, Edmund Kind is the only one who calls Book Gabriel.
Shogun (TV 2024)
Characters: Yoshii Toranaga, John Blackthorne
I loved everything about the show, and the interactions between Toranaga and Blackthorne fascinated me to no end. The assassin scene, the diving scene, and their scenes in the final episode of the first season in particular. I’ve checked in various rewatches, and as far as I can tell, Toranaga stopping Blackthorne’s attempted seppuku is the only time Toranaga initiates physical contact with another character, besides his infant son and his hawk.
I would adore anything that explores their interactions, during the series or beyond. Some suggestions/ideas:
Missing moment, showing the race between Toranaga and Blackthorne after their impromptu diving lesson.
What were Toranaga and Blackthorne thinking during the attempted seppuku scene—what did Toranaga mean by the shoulder pat, what did Blackthorne think of it (he looks torn between utter confusion and the beginnings of awed respect there, imo).
A moment many years later, seeing how their relationship has developed (does Toranaga ever tell him about the whole ship burning thing?).
“Because he makes me laugh” and the wealth of potential meaning behind that statement.
